Embrace change.

When I started at Lipscomb in the 90's, I had a Rose computer with 512 kilobytes of storage that used a 3.5 inch floppy disk. I was one of the few that even had a computer, but I had (and still have) a very tech savvy dad. When he was setting it up in my dorm room he said, “This has so much storage, you will never be able to fill it up.” Well, my elegant little piece of machinery (iphone 8 plus) has 512,000 times more storage. It currently has 36,692 photos and countless documents and I am totally sure I’ll never fill it up. This same tech savvy dad is also the one who has taught me a lot about change. If you’ve ever been in one of his Sunday School classes he often teaches about “the last time.” The last time you rock her to sleep, hold his hand on the way in to school, give her a bath, etc. Sometimes this is almost too hard to hear, isn’t it?  But, I’m not sure we could survive knowing that some experience is that we are having is the last of its kind. So, what’s the antidote? Maybe it's just to dive in right where you are. I’m driving this kid all over town and then going back for the other one because I get to. And, tomorrow that won’t be needed. When Brad and I first got married, I guess I thought I’d be a decrepit little old lady when I had a high school student for a son. But, the newlywed is long gone as is all the people she has been between then and now. Kind of like that high school student. I’m thankful he doesn’t need rocking or for me to hold his hand walking into school. I’m growing up right alongside them and am so thankful for the chance. (Although that newlywed’s blog would have almost been over by now!
