I love Kroger Clicklist and Walmart Grocery Pickup and I am not ashamed. When this service first started it felt too good to be true. So, let me get this straight. You’re telling me that I can shop on Saturday morning at home while I drink my coffee in front of the fireplace and pick up my groceries Sunday night on the way home from church? Sign me up! No, seriously, please sign me up. Early on in my Clicklist use, I was asking an employee about how the service had changed things for everyone working at Kroger. And, well, he grocery shamed me! He told me that he felt like it was lazy to use the service if you don’t have a “reason” to use it. I was taken aback! But, thankfully, at the age I am now I can’t be shamed by groceries. My family has this crazy habit of wanting to eat every single meal, every single day. Also, Brad and I have this crazy habit of going to work every single day to pay for all these meals. So….pickup it is. I’ve decided that it is a great price for a couple more hours of time with my people on weekends and in the evenings. I’m not a perfectionist, not by a long shot. So, a few mispicked items or wonky veggies here and there are something I can live with. I know playing board games, going to the pool, sitting by the fire pit, or just sitting around talking doesn’t exactly equal sitting at the feet of Jesus, but I think there is room for a bit of comparison to the story of Mary and Martha. I one hundred percent believe that my children will never remember whether I went to the grocery store or not. But, I one hundred percent believe they WILL remember that I was right there...watching, cheering, playing, and just WITH them. Cut yourself a little slack. Go sit at the feet of your family and soak it in.
Luke 10:38-42 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
