12. Comparison. Don’t do it.
Did you know that Facebook is a big fat liar? And, Instagram might be even worse. Everyone is always on a fabulous vacation, eating amazing food, hanging out with people you know, or even the ever popular humble brag. (But I guess not too many people post about vacation diarrhea, silent dinners, yelling at the family before guests come over, or maybe even that the humble brag is the single bright spot at the moment.) Do you ever find yourself comparing your life to other people’s “Social-media lives”? Even real life can be challenging for comparison. Some people seem so smart, put together, thin, accomplished, you name it. The urge to compare can be incredibly strong. One of my favorite authors, Ann Voskamp, has a three word solution that has worked so well for me. Three little words to put it all back in the perspective it should be. “I get enough.” And, don’t we? God loves us so much. So much His one and only son was sacrificed for us. And, for most of us His blessings didn’t even stop with this one! “I get enough.”
Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
